You may be eligible for partial cancellation of your Perkins loan account for teaching in a school listed in the Directory:

You may be eligible for partial cancellation of your Perkins loan account for teaching science, math, foreign language, bilingual education, or a subject area designated by the state has having a shortage of teachers.

Total and Permanent Disability
You may be eligible for the discharge of your federal student loan if you are permanently disabled and unable to work. For Perkins loans, the process is handled entirely by the Department of Education.
